Common questions
Where can I find a list of tax delinquent properties for sale?
Each county publishes its own list before its tax sale, usually on the treasurer, tax collector or revenue commissioner site. TaxLienSimple collects those published lists: 292,612 parcels from 829 counties in 48 states right now. Pick a state below to see its counties, their next sale dates and a sample of parcels.
Which state has the most tax delinquent properties listed?
On the lists we hold right now, Kentucky (106,774 parcels), Ohio (27,481 parcels), Alabama (24,907 parcels). The count reflects what counties have published, not every delinquent property in the state.
Is a delinquent tax list the same as a tax sale list?
Not always. A delinquent list names properties with unpaid taxes, and many are paid off before the sale and drop out. The county's certified sale list, published closer to the sale date, is the one to bid from, and each state page links to the county's own source.
Are the opening bids the property's value?
No. An opening bid is the county's figure for taxes, interest and costs owed, not what the property is worth. Check title, condition and liens before bidding.
