Annual tax lien sale under Miss. Code Ann. 27-41-59: the tax collector sells each delinquent parcel on the last Monday in August to the bidder offering the most above the taxes, interest and costs due. The buyer holds a tax sale certificate; on redemption the owner pays the amount the buyer paid plus 5% damages on the taxes and interest at 1.5% per month (18% a year) on the amount paid, and the buyer is repaid (27-45-3). If no one redeems within two years the buyer may perfect title.
